Last Night @ The Radisson 02-29-08

(UPI) Whittier, CA. Time Marches On

Yesterday, UCLA defeated Xavier and advanced to the "Final Four" in Collegian basketball, as the Dodgers hosted the Boston Red Sox's at the Memorial Coliseum. Well, what's does that have to do with Disco at the Rad? Everything and nothing... You see, as the Bruins were igniting our passions and future hopes of an NCAA championship, the Dodgers Red Sox's game was stepping back to the future, setting an attendance record, for the most people to attend a Major League Baseball event (115,000) plus baseball fans. Rest assured, the Guinness Book of World Records will be calling the Dodgers front office on Monday morning.   (Sport's Lover's and Ladies - Tell the men and non-sport enthusiast to hang with me through the March madness)

The last time the Dodgers posted these attendance numbers, (93,103) was on May 7th 1959, in a candle lit tribute exhibition game, for wheelchair bound, Dodgers catcher, Roy Campanella, against the Bronx Bombers aka Yankees @ The Coliseum in L.A... Roy never played in L.A, as he was crippled in an auto accident, while in route from the east cost to the west. (The punch lines coming)

If Disco events are a numbers game and a promoter's measure of success, than Disco Retro Nights DJ Time is not standing still competing for the same Disco gene pool of party goers. Personally, I measure success in the company of good friends and good music and some Coronas.

Last night the Radisson played host to a 90% capacity filled, standing room only of disco lovers spread across two dance floors. People were literally standing everywhere. Last night was Crunch Time. Crunch time is the span of time in which promoters decide, if their venue is going thrive or dive. If the crowd has not passed through your doors by X time, where x=crunch time, forget it brother, "It Ain't Gonna Happen". Crunch time varies between venues, either you crunch the numbers or you get crunched. Past venues at the Rad for December, January and February have seen crunch time success in the early hours of 9:30 pm to 10:00 pm. X time came and left like a new year's party missing the 12:00 am celebration and someone yelling out, "Hey bro, it's 10 min. after 12:00 am"...yeah. But at 11:00 pm, Mike Enchantment walked slowly to the DJ booth, as a tumble weed blew across the room, without warning, BAM! WHAM! Thank You Mann! Mikey E. unleashed his Alaskan Huskies. The room swelled to capacity as party goers raced to the dance floor like the day after a Thanksgiving Day Sale at Wal-Mart. It was stratospherically surreal? They say timing is everything...right? You see, DJ Time Marco explained it to me sometime back. Like in the Wizard of Oz, Glenda the good witch of the North telling Dorthy she always had the power to go home. Marcos stated, "We love and embrace our friends and the familiar face, but we are turning new faces into disco regulars and new friends. On that note, I clicked my heels 3 times.

At 11:00 o'clock, the party people incorporated, descended like locust on a corn field. I unashamedly embrace all the party wisdom that Disco Retro Nights entails.

DJ Jerry Infinity was magnificent, as he let go the Disco Dawgs Of War. Not to be out done, DJ Time Marco unleashed his own powers of finesse and talent, as party people lit up the dance floor, like a Christmas tree ceremony on the White House lawn in the 2nd room. DJ Rene Pandamonia is like the big little DJ brother, to quote Joe MD, I never had, his character and playing skills make you want to come back for more foot stomping Disco musicality.

DJ Xavier, Lalo and Arthur you guys were great in the back room!

JEG, Peter I thank you for allowing me to be a part of your 3rd successful DRN venue, of which I have attended at the Rad.

Disco Retro Nights, "You Are" Ahead of Your Time!

DJ Time X-Men Are For Reals! Now that's what I'm talking about!

Jerry Loved Your Sample Mix On The Boards! It was evan better to hear you spin in person!
