The Green Turtle: A Club of Another Era!

I Love The Dancing Green Turtle Mario and your Armani Suit! I was in stitches from laughter. The turtle is funny and I am green with envy over the threads. It reminded me of "Kermit the Frog", I would have loved to have put it in the video montage, had I not finished it...

The Green Turtle is reminiscent of the great Clubs on the East-side, that would bring people from all over. Such clubs, as "The Carbon Copy" and The "Ivanhoe" in Temple City. Dj Midnight Disco DJed during this great era and only the best of the best Djs...DJed @ these two trend setting club of clubs. It was Midnight Disco of The Carbon Copy vs. Earthquake Steve of the Ivanoe!(devious)(cool). Carlos, I knew of your highly reguarded reputation. I just, never had the pleasure of personally meeting you...I was very shy at this time(smart). My loss...

The Carbon Copy in La Puente, ran a dance contest on Wednesday and Sunday nights that brought in the best freestyle, and lockers (what's a locker?..think of Ronald McDonald Jumping Up and Down swinging his arms in the air) and swing dancers from as far as the San Fernando Valley. It was at the Carbon Copy, that I met a great swing dancer named Lloyd Sharaga, who studied under Roy Madrid, who taught and choreographed John Travolta's dance routine in the couples dance contest. Wait a minute Rude Dawg, you are wrong, that was Danny Terrio from "Dance Fever", correction my friend, Danny Terrio taught John Travolta the freestyle lock routine. "You see, I met Danny Terrio  at the Ivanhoe", (think Senator Lloyd Benson addressing president hopeful Dan Quail in a debate, "and Joe Kennedy and Danny were good friends of mine and you sir are no Danny Terrio"), among other celebrities, like boxing great "Indian Red Lopez". The lock routine was suppose to be fast, hard and quick, but JT brought his own Rico Suave-mente style to the dance.

The two clubs would battle it out on Thursday night for patron supremacy. The lines would literally streatch to a length of 20 to 30 yards from the door, as people sometimes waited up to an hour or more to get inside the club. My good friend Cris, "The Italian Stallion" aka bad dude Italian bouncer would create an "Illusion" that became a self-fulfilling prophecy, by intentionally letting the line grow and swell to 60-70 people, all waiting to get inside the club. People would drive by and say, "This place  has got it going on!" Sometimes, no one could get inside, unless some people left(grin). The Carbon Copy had some great MCs like Buzzie Gilespie and Paul Adair. MC Mario comes to mind and is a throw back to some of these great MCs of yesteryear.(cool) Mario I love your MCing, but we want more of the gift of gab my bratha! Mario you leave us wanting more "Disco Jive Talking", correct me if I'm wrong Midnight Disco(happy)We need an encore performance!

The  Ultimate Crave Staff and UC dancers and ambiance reminds me so much of the these great clubs.

You see, success can not be measured by a head count, but by the quality of partying we did. We were all weekly regulars, much like I see happening at UC events. UC has it's own established following in the Southern California and Whiiter area. Don't get me wrong, the word is spreading and I met a movie producer by the name of Sam who happened to see a line forming as he drove by and decidely had to stop by and have a looksie and was so impressed with the music and the warm greetings that he received, that Sam decided to stay.(grin) Sam has worked in the Latino Film Industry and seeks to promote our Spanish-English culture though the media and politics. Romeo Romeo, hey maybe he'll put me in a novela(grin)

UC parties have some of the best freestyle dancers that I have seen and are always willing to stop me to take a picture pose of them like a work of living art.

Anyways, all I can say is that you have to attend one of these events to see waht "I'm Taking About"(grin) Rudy you mis-spelled "waht"(bored)...no I din't..."Now dats waht I'm Talkin Ah-bout"(lol)

There are going to be some might sexy Teddies and boxer style PJs...I'm Sure(stoned)(tongue)(lol)

Thank you Mario and Ultimate Crave(cool)

Dance Fever was a syndicated musical variety series, in which three celebrities judged amateur dancers to the hottest disco hits of the day. It was created and produced by Merv Griffin, written by Tony Garofalo and hosted by Deney Terrio and later Adrian Zmed. The show also featured a segment in which some of the top Disco, Pop or R&B artists of the day would perform their latest hit. The series was aired in 1979 and lasted until 1987. The show was revived in 2003 with actor and MC Eric Nies as the host and Carmen Electra, Jamie King and MC Hammer appeared as the regular celebrity judges.
