(UPI) Hollywood, CA. FDR 50th Birthday Celebration!
Last Saturday, as Hollywood prepared to host the Academy Awards, Oscar himself rolled out the red carpet to pay tribute and honor a man who has dedicated his life to bringing magical joy to the Disco masses. Not just in the City of the Angels, but across Discolandia, on a voyage that is international. Music transcends the boundaries of time and space-Einstein knew this theory all too well, as did Mr. Frank Del Rio.
The castle, we call Circus Disco of Hollywood, played host to a posh and very elegant affair. Beautiful Disco starlets (Lydia and Lulu) were draped in beautiful evening wear and gowns. The evening was studded with so much musical mixing talent under one roof, one might have thought-- a movie was being made of Disco...L.A. Style!
Ortega Productions, Freddy O and Jules, Raul O and Linda, Elegant Productions...Mr Arthur Ochoa, Midnight Disco Productions DJ Carlos, DJ Ralph, DJ Blondie, Mr. Rick Ortiz, Bill Walker of Thump Records, DJ Wuakeen and DJ Marco of Time Productions, were all in the house to name a few dignitaries, along with Bobby of Bobby's World. Rosa take care of Alfredo, as we wish him a speedy recovery. Tony the Tiger, so good to see you there!
Ro, Joe MD and John F2F and Debbie--we missed you my friends. From event promoters to Television show producers, to the closest of family and friends--all united to honor and wish Frank a gratitude of thanks for his contributions to the Disco Movement.
It was the whose who of the Disco Music Industry. One by one we passed the microphone and toasted to Frank's accomplishments. Stories of growing up with Frank, leaning to mix from Frank, people not knowing Frank personally, but greatly aware of the legend of FDR. Djs conjuring thoughts of, "How would Frank Del Rio mix this vinyl". Frank judging mixing contests of the most talented youth of up and coming DJs, the future FDRs of tomorrow.
The Master of Ceremonies, Chris (Alpha) beautifully orchestrated the nightly festivities. JD hall had everyone out of their chairs as the ladies pie piepered all around him as he sang "Wonder Women and #1 Lover."
Annie, the night was filled with magic! A total success from the dinner to the entertainment--you were the First Lady of the evening. To all that were there to support and wish Frank a Happy Birthday--We salute you! Special thanks to Annie and Bobby for the beautiful video and photography work. And kudos to my baby Sweet-T for the hours of work assisting me in this joyful endeavor. But lets sit back now as we take you on a magic carpet ride! Action! Roll the video montage!
